About the Place
Located in the heart of Oxnard, California, A-Burger stands as a nostalgic homage to classic American steakhouses with a distinct burger joint flair. This modest spot at 155 S Oxnard Blvd offers an old-school dining experience where timeless flavors and straightforward comfort food take center stage. The atmosphere inside channels a bit of childhood charm, with a clean and inviting interior that welcomes families and burger enthusiasts alike.
A-Burger’s menu features hearty staples like the ABurger, kids’ burgers, fries, chili cheese fries, and crispy onion rings—all served hot and packed with simple, satisfying flavors. The standout elements are its chili-smothered options, which add a spicy Texas twist to a California classic, striking a unique balance many diners find enjoyable. While the burgers lean toward a no-frills approach, some diners note the absence of traditional condiments like mayo and ketchup, which might surprise purists but underscores the brand’s distinct take on the American burger.
Some dishes like the TJ dog with its unique toppings have garnered praise for creativity, while chocolate shakes have received mixed reviews, highlighting opportunity for refinement. Service experiences vary, but the attentive and earnest kitchen staff work hard to deliver quality meals without excessive grease or inflated prices. The abundance of parking and the convenience of takeout add practical value to the visit.

“ If you want a decent burger it's worth a try. The people in the back looked like good people trying to make good food. No major complaints.. judge for yourself.. ”
“ I had a good laugh when I drove by this place, I guess the "what" fell off of their sign Good fast food hamburgers and of course the obligatory smothered in chili options making it sort of a cross between a large California chain and an even larger Texas chain. Fun stuff. ”
“ Old school burger joint! We got some A-Burgers, kids burger, fries, chili cheese fries, and onion rings. The food was hot and tasty! Definetly fixed my burger and fry craving. The interior was nostalgic and clean, reminded me of childhood. I'll definitely be back! ”
“ The food is decent, not the best "Classic Burger" joint we have been to. The classic burger feel is less impressive when you go inside to their TV screen menu's. Felt too much like a chain burger place inside. The Chocolate shake was too runny and not very chocolatey. The TJ dog was probably the best thing we had, very unique toppings The burgers don't/didn't have mayo/ketchup. That is a staple on burgers for us. ”
“ This place was pretty decent. I called in my order, and took it to go, got a bacon cheeseburger with avocado and onion rings. The food is tasty, not too greasy, not too pricey. There was plenty of parking. ”
